If this is you – we are looking for a Developer Advocate based in the UK, who will work within the Office of the CTO evangelizing Hazelcast, the Real-time Data Platform. Hazelcast is an Open Source software firm providing the fastest real-time intelligent applications platform, for processing stateful, data-intensive workloads at giga-scale.
What we look for
- Minimum of 2 years in an developer advocate/evangelist role or presales and minimum of 5 years total experience in software development.
- Experience with Java programming and microservices as well as data engineering.
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks and other Data Science frameworks.
- Ability to write production level reliable Java and Python code.
- Understanding of measuring model performance in production to identify model drift, data drift and techniques for comparing the accuracy of models to optimize accuracy and determine when to address via retraining or introducing new algorithms.
- A good understanding of distributed computing architectures and highly available architectures.
- Be an excellent communicator in written and spoken English.
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree in computer science or related field.
- Presentation skills and customer-facing skills.
Responsibilities
- Promote adoption and awareness of Hazelcast Platform across the ecosystem of developers and technologists across customers, partners and the broader community, with a focus on the EMEA region.
- Develop strong relationships with influencers and leaders in the community.
- Create and deliver talks and demonstrations, create videos and author blogs and articles.
- Engage with active contributors and cultivate a program to recognize their efforts.
- Capture community feedback for product management and engineering.
Additional desired skills
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Flink or Storm, or streaming technologies like Kafka, Pulsar or AWS Kinesis.
- Success in hackathons and/or in data science competitions such as Kaggle
- Experience with scientific python frameworks such as numpy, pandas, scikit-learn
- Understanding of various classes of algorithms (eg regression, classifiers, decision-trees, supervised vs. unsupervised learning, etc.) and where and how each is used.
- Experience with data science studio tools such as Databricks, Amazon Sagemaker, DataRobot, H2O.ai, Domino Data Lab, IBM Watson Studio, Cloudera Data Science Workbench, etc.
- Fluency in other European languages would be advantageous

Location
We are currently accepting applications from the United Kingdom.
Regular travel will be required, such as representing Hazelcast at in-person events such as conferences and user groups, or customer/partner sponsored activities.
