Who we’re looking for
The Workflow Automation team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in building reliable services at scale. You are a great match if you possess excellent technical skills, are driven to craft performant solutions, and have expertise in working with the JVM & Java ecosystem.
Our team is responsible for the sales automation area of Zendesk Sell, which includes already existing features used by thousands of sales professionals, as well as new emerging functionalities. These projects directly improve the way our users handle their daily workload and saves them their precious time.
What you’ll be doing
- Be part of a team of intelligent, hard-working, and humble engineers who own their products and share a vision for what they build
- Actively participate in coding, pair programming, reviewing pull requests, testing, rolling out, and making everything run efficiently in production
- Work across a broad range of technologies running on AWS: Java, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, Docker, Terraform
- Thrive in a high-reaching environment, open to debates, brainstorming and analytical decision making

What you bring to the role
- Consistent record in software engineering, preferably in a SaaS environment
- Excellent programming skills in Java, especially using asynchronous aspects of the language
- Deep understanding of web application development and agile development practices
- Strong problem-solving capabilities as well as the flexibility to deal with changing and conflicting priorities
- Emotional intelligence and strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to craft object-oriented code following the best engineering practices
Preferred Requirements
- Experience working on distributed system
- Collaborative approach when making decisions
- Experience with sophisticated data modeling
- Willingness to mentor junior team members
Tech Stack
We write in Java using Spring as a framework running inside Docker containers on AWS machines. Our relational storage of choice is MySQL, but there is a place for Redis, Elasticsearch, and some queuing using Kafka and RabbitMQ as well.
When possible we choose AWS services (Aurora, Elasticache etc.), while our delivery pipeline heavily relies on Github & Github Actions, and once deployed we monitor the system using Datadog.
