Within the Philips Innovation Services (PInS), we are looking for an enthusiastic Software System Architect who will work together with existing teams in shaping the software architecture for (embedded) applications for current and future Philips products, and who will guide the software development teams during all the development phases.
Your responsibilities within this role will include

  • Defining and leading the implementation of artificial intelligence in Healthcare; Although mainly focused on software, electronic hardware design is often in scope as well;
  • Defining architecture strategy, balancing long- and short-term views and balancing conflicting requirements;
  • Delivering a consolidated (reference) architecture: creating well-defined building blocks / system options & scenarios; choosing the optimal architecture, leveraging technology and contributing to/driving roadmaps;
  • Ensuring solid, up-to-date and usable documentation of the architecture and implementation thereof; using methods & tools for a structured approach;
  • Acting within the total context, (business, organization, roadmaps, external world, overall ecosystem etc.): driving for convergence;
  • Interacting and managing stakeholders including business leaders, R&D managers, platform architects, and integral project managers;
  • Capturing / re-using prior art, following in- and external trends; remaining up-to-date with regard to professional knowledge;
  • Leading a team of senior designers who are involved in project execution.

You are a part of

The Electronic Systems & IoT department is part of Philips Innovation Services and located on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Software Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent;
  • 10+ years of system architecture experience in multi-disciplinary systems within the Medical industry;
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, machine/deep learning, including bringing solutions to market;
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience with bringing medical products to the market;
  • Experience with Healthcare Regulatory (Software) standards;
  • Experience in translating customer needs into technical requirements and then clearly defining the complete architectural needs to project members;
  • Experience in coaching and leading R&D teams;
  • Team player and effective communicator with exceptional customer focus;
  • Willingness to travel to customer’s site as needed for project definition and execution (typical travel is 10% – 25%)
